Restaurants and businesses anticipating increase in revenue as March Madness begins

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) -It’s once again time to enjoy some of the most exciting few weeks of the year as the annual NCAA March Madness basketball tournament is underway.

The March Madness buzz is already high at Blackbeard’s Triple Play & Sports Bar in Jacksonville.

“It’s definitely the hype of the actual experience,” said Blackbeard’s Triple Play & Sports Bar General Manager, Mike McClarin. “Whether you have a team or not, you’re here watching the whole thing play out.”

McClarin says they’re prepared for an influx of people to come and watch this year’s tournament at their restaurant.

“We definitely upped our wing par,” McClarin said. “We’re actually running some wing specials to help with sports events. Also, have a lot more draft and bottled beer on site.”

McClarin says revenue tends to mushroom for them during March Madness, even though he has to battle being a businessman and a Tar Heel fan.

“It’s a lot of hype around it,” McClarin said. “Of course, if you have a team like me, you’re worried about your team. Go Heels! It’s a great time of year.”
