Reports of gun at Kinston High School leads to arrests

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – Police say reports of a person with a handgun on a high school campus led to the arrest of two Kinston men.

Kinston police say around 1:00 p.m. Wednesday they were called to Kinston High School.

Police say the two men left the school before they arrived and a short time later they found the suspects at St. Johns Village Apartments on East Highland Avenue.

Officers say they found a gun in the apartment.

Na’s Whitfield, 18, is charged with felony carrying a gun on educational property, carrying a concealed weapon, trespassing, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Knowledge Johnson, 20, was charged with trespassing, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
