RDU sets new passenger record in May

MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Raleigh-Durham International Airport says it set a new passenger record last month.

RDU says the combination of Memorial Day, Mother’s Day, and college graduations brought more than 1.4 million travelers through the airport.

That outpaced April by 10.5%, according to the airport.

RDU said 59,000 travelers passed through the terminals on May 13th, setting a single-day record during Mother’s Day and graduation weekends.

The airport says Memorial Day travel was higher than expected, at 9.7% above the same weekend last year.

RDU says they welcomed its newest international airline partner in June when Lufthansa launched nonstop service to Frankfurt, Germany.
