Post-game flare-up with security staff after Arendell Parrott game under investigation

LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A post-game flare-up between fans and security staff at one Eastern Carolina private high school is under investigation.

Lenoir County deputies say it happened last night after a boys’ varsity basketball game at Arendell Parrott Academy. Parrott was playing John Paul II Catholic High School in Greenville.

Deputies say the dispute was between some fans and Parrott’s security staff. An off-duty deputy who was there helped restore order, as well as on-duty deputies who were called in to help.

No one has been arrested at this point. The sheriff’s office and school security are reviewing school security videos as well as those from spectators.

A news release said Parrott’s safety and security director will press charges, if applicable.

John Paul II won the close game 48-47.
