DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A situation is unfolding along an eastern Carolina highway, amid heavy downpours and thunderstorms moving across the region.

Little details are known, but the North Carolina State Highway Patrol says a section of Interstate 40 West near mile marker 382 in Duplin County is shut down.

The situation parallels the towns of Teachy and Wallace on Interstate 40, just before the Highway 11 interchange.

Officials say a two-mile stretch of one lane of the interstate is closed after Exit 384.
