Polls open for North Carolina second primary election

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Tuesday marks North Carolina’s second primary election day for runoff races.

Election Day polls are open today from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Early voting for the 2024 second primaries ended on May 11th.

Officials say second primaries are being held statewide for the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor, state auditor, and Republican nomination for U.S. House District 13, which includes all of Caswell, Person, Franklin, Lee, Harnett, and Johnston counties, as well as parts of Wake and Granville counties.

Eligible, registered voters will have to go to their assigned precinct. To find your eligible voting sites, click here.

Voters who vote by absentee ballot must return them by 7:30 p.m. tonight to their county board of elections office.

Today, those who vote in person will be asked to show a photo ID when they check in to vote. A valid driver’s license and many other forms of photo ID will be accepted. For a full list of eligible ID forms, click here.

North Carolina’s general election day is November 5th, 2024. North Carolina voters will be able to vote on 22 offices, including president in November.
