Polls closed, results being tabulated for today’s primary election

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – Polls have now closed across North Carolina on this primary election day.

This is Super Tuesday because 15 different states have primaries today.

In North Carolina, this was the first state election that required voter identification.

Mail-in ballots will not count if they arrive at the county board of elections after Election Day.

Polls closed at 7:30 p.m. Voters in line by 7:30 p.m. will have the opportunity to vote.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections also says under changes made to Session Law 2023-14, Section 29, county boards must wait until 7:30 p.m. to close the polls before county early voting results. In turn, this will push unofficial voting results back.
