KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina man has been charged after police say he fired his brand new gun some 40 times within city limits.

Kinston police charged Devon Suggs after getting calls about shots being fired on Airport Road around 4:00 p.m. Friday.

Officers say they saw the 28-year-old Suggs walking from the woods where they heard gunshots.

Police say the man had a gun on him and he was charged with discharging a firearm in the city limits.

Suggs had bought the gun earlier that same day, according to officers.

Police seized the weapon and found over 40 shell casings in the area where the shooting happened.
