Police now investigating Goldsboro house fire

Goldsboro firefighters were called to the home on Devereaux Street for a working fire.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WITN) – Police have taken a lead role in investigating a fire that significantly damaged a vacant home this morning in one Eastern Carolina city.

Goldsboro firefighters were called to the duplex on Devereaux Street for a working fire around 9:20 a.m.

The home is abandoned and was boarded up.

When firefighters arrived, flames were coming out of the front and back of the home. A total of 21 firefighters worked on the fire and it was under control in less than a half hour, according to the fire department.

No one was found inside the home and no firefighters were injured.
