POLICE: Man arrested with edibles & weed near Kinston elementary school

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina police department says they arrested a man and charged him with several drug-related charges Tuesday after a nearly two-month-long investigation.

The Kinston Police Department says Iverson Ward was arrested and charged with six drug charges after investigators executed a search warrant at his apartment at 912 East Highland Avenue yesterday.

The police Department says his apartment is near Northeast Elementary School and Greene Lamp Head Start Daycare.

Investigators say they found a combined total of 334 grams of edibles and marijuana.

In January, officials say the police department’s Violent Crime Action Team (VCAT) was called about drug complaints involving Ward.

Tuesday, Ward was charged with possession with intent to sell and/or deliver drugs within 1,000 feet of a school, possession with intent to sell and/or deliver drugs within 1,000 feet of a daycare, possession with intent to sell and/or deliver a schedule VI substance, felony possession of a schedule VI substance, felony maintaining a dwelling, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
