POLICE: La Grange man arrested for gunshots fired at Kinston club

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – Kinston police say gunshots were fired as people left a party at a bar late Friday night into the early hours of Saturday morning.

Officers were called to Jay’s Place to help staff with crowd control as a party was ending early Saturday morning around 2:45 a.m.

Within minutes of officers getting to the bar on West Blount Street, officials say shots were fired.

Police say Dontrieves Hooker, 44, of La Grange, waved a gun at a group of women he was in an argument with and then fired two shots at one of the women.

Investigators say the shots missed the woman and hit a nearby residence with people inside.

Hooker was arrested Sunday and charged with discharging a weapon into occupied property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, going armed to the terror of the public, and littering.
