Police investigating Greenville weekend shooting that injured teen

Greenville police say it happened around 12: 30 a.m. at a townhome in the 2900 block of Sussex Street.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Sunday morning in one Eastern Carolina city.

Greenville police say it happened around 12: 30 a.m. at a townhome in the 2900 block of Sussex Street.

Officers say 18-year-old Jaylen Suggs was taken to ECU Health Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation shows the shooting happened after a fight between two groups of people who attended a gathering at the home, according to a police spokeswoman.

Police say no arrests have been made but that detectives have developed strong leads in the case.
