POLICE: Halifax County mother charged with child abuse

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WITN) – A Halifax County mother has been arrested on charges of child abuse following a lengthy investigation by the Halifax County Department of Social Services and Roanoke Rapids police.

Police say that 26-year-old Tracey Fleming emotionally and mentally tortured her two children, both of whom are under 16 years of age while they were living within the Roanoke Rapids city limits.

According to police, Fleming was arrested Thursday around noon in Scotland Neck. She was charged with two counts of felony child abuse and was taken to the Halifax County Jail where she is being held without bond.
