POLICE: Greenville man shot after knocking over pregnant woman

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Greenville police say a man was shot after he knocked over and pushed a pregnant woman Saturday night at an apartment complex.

Officers were called to the Speedway on U.S. 264 for a man who had shown up there with gunshot wounds.

The victim, 22-year-old Mitchell Cobb, remains in serious condition at Vidant Medical Center.

Police say the shooting happened at Paramount 3800 Apartments, which is located behind the Speedway.

Witnesses say Cobb, who was in a previous relationship with one of the occupants, forced his way into an apartment, knocked over and pushed the pregnant woman, and then assaulted another woman.

People inside the apartment told officers that Cobb threatened to kill everyone inside, and was shot by one of the people in the apartment as he walked aggressively toward them.

Police say all those involved have been identified and have been cooperating with police.

The Pitt County District Attorney’s Office will be consulted about what charges to bring in the case.
