Police catch man wanted for Washington shooting

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) – Police said they’ve caught up with man wanted for a shooting in Washington.

Chief Stacy Drakeford said that Mykal Coleman, 27, was arrested Tuesday and charged with 2 counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill as well as going armed to the terror of the public.

Police said that Coleman opened fire during a dispute with other people around 1:20 a.m. in the 300 block of West 9th Street. Nobody was hit by the gunfire.

Coleman is being held on a $75,000 secured bond.

Drakeford credits the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and Washington residents for helping find Coleman.
