POLICE: 58-year-old Goldsboro man in critical condition following Monday afternoon hit-and-run

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WITN) -An Eastern Carolina police department is investigating a Monday afternoon, pedestrian involved hit-and-run.

Goldsboro Police Department says officers were called to the area of 1001 North Spence Ave. around 1:43 p.m. in reference to a motor vehicle accident where a pedestrian had been hit.

While officers were headed to the accident, they say several calls were made informing them that the occupant of the suspect vehicle had fled the scene.

Police say officers were able to secure the area and quickly arrest the occupant, who they say is a 16-year-old Goldsboro juvenile.

The victim 58-year-old Christopher Hare of Goldsboro, was transported to UNC Health Wayne before being flown to ECU Health in Greenville for his injuries where police say he is listed in critical condition.

Officers says the suspect was charged with hit and run, failure to report an accident, careless and reckless driving, improper turn, and unsafe tires.
