POLICE: 14-year-old boy arrested with weapon of mass destruction

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – Police say officers arrested a 14-year-old after finding a gun in his waistband.

The Kinston Police Department says officers were patrolling the Stroud Avenue and Williams Street area after reports of “knocking and pushing on vehicles” early Saturday morning at 1:09 a.m.

Officials say police found three people and discovered a 14-year-old boy had a sawed-off shotgun in his waistband.

The teenager started kicking and pushing as officers tried to arrest him but was arrested without any further issues, according to the police department.

The teen boy has been charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction, carrying a concealed gun, resisting arrest, and assaulting a law enforcement officer.

The boy was taken to a juvenile jail.
