Planet Fitness murder suspect named; case moved to Superior Court

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A teenager arrested last month with the shooting death outside of Planet Fitness last year has now been charged as an adult.

A Pitt County judge this morning agreed that the case against Joshua Rosenburg would be moved to Superior Court.

The 18-year-old is now in the Pitt County jail on a $2.5 million bond.

Because Rosenburg was under 18 at the time of the murder, he was originally charged as a juvenile and his name wasn’t released.

Last July 4th, the body of 21-year-old Jayden Harrison was found outside of the gym on Thomas Langston Road.

Police say they have no motive in the shooting, but credit DNA evidence collected from the scene, along with another shooting in December 2022 in Winterville, with helping lead them to the suspect.

Rosenburg, who has a Winterville address, was charged with first degree murder in the Planet Fitness case, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and attempted first degree murder in the Winterville shooting.
