WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) – A pilot was taken to the hospital after his plane caught fire at one Eastern Carolina airport.
Beaufort County Public Information Officer Brandon Tester said it happened at Washington-Warren Field Airport Sunday around 4:53 p.m.
Tester said that the plane caught fire while it was landing.
The pilot was taken to the hospital with what Tester says were minor injuries.
Washington officials say that Washington police and Washington Fire Rescue responded to the scene and remain there.
The Highway Patrol and federal aviation authorities have been told of the crash which is required in these situations.
