Pitt County Schools accepting applications for vacant school board seat

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Pitt County Schools is trying to find someone to fill an unexpired seat on the school board.

The Pitt County Board of Education announced Monday that it is accepting applications to fill the District 1 seat vacancy that was created when board member Tracy Everette-Lenz resigned from the board earlier this month.

Everette-Lenz resignation takes effect on February 29th, her term does not expire until 2026.

Pitt County Schools has a policy in place that allows the remaining members of the board to select and appoint a person to fill the vacancy until the next regularly scheduled election for the Board of Education.

Anyone interested in applying for the District 1 seat should submit a letter of intent indicating why they would like to serve as a member of the board and an up-to-date resume no later than March 19, 2024.

Applicants must live in District 1 to be eligible for consideration.
