Pitt County man wins second lottery drawing in three years

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – A Winterville man said that lightning can strike the same place twice after he won the lottery for a second time.

The North Carolina Education Lottery said that Christopher Mills won Wednesday’s grand prize of $200,000 for the 2023 Multiply the Cash Second Chance drawing in which he was one of more than 47 million entries.

To make the victory sweeter, Mills also won $100,000 in December 2021 with a Winter Winnings scratch-off.

“I was shocked when I got the email but I was overjoyed,” he said. “I can’t believe lightning struck twice.”

He took home his $143,000 winnings yesterday.

Mills said he will use the winnings to further his twin sons’ educations who have just graduated from Campbell University with Master of Business degrees.
