Pitt County man charged with child sex crimes

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A Pitt County man is facing charges involving child sex crimes that deputies say happened in January of this year.

According to deputies, a school resource officer was told about a sexual assault on a child that happened on January 14th in the Grimesland area.

After speaking with the person who they were told had been assaulted, deputies say they found out that the assaults had been happening for several years.

Deputies charged 40-year-old Daniel Rouse of Grimesland with multiple charges including four counts of indecent liberties with a child, felony child abuse sex act, first-degree statutory sex offense, statutory sex offense with a child under 15, and statutory rape of a child under 15.

Deputies say that Rouse turned himself in at the Pitt County Jail on February 16. He is being held on a $725,000 secured bond.
