Pitt County hand-eye count rescheduled for today after employee death

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – The required hand-eye count for the 2024 primary elections is scheduled for Tuesday morning after a board of elections employee died over the weekend.

According to the Pitt County Board of Elections director Dave Davis, a woman who helps with the count passed away Sunday morning.

The count was supposed to happen Monday at 9:00 a.m. at the Board of Elections office but is now happening today at 9 a.m.

By law, this happens for every county after an election.
