Pitt County hand-eye count delayed after board of elections employee passes away

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – The required hand-eye count for the 2024 primary elections has been delayed due to the death of a board of elections employee.

According to the Pitt County Board of Elections director Dave Davis, a woman who helps with the count passed away Sunday morning.

The count was supposed to happen today at 9:00 a.m. at the Board of Elections office.

By law, this happens for every county after an election.

Davis says they will reschedule as soon as possible.
