Pitt County Arboretum announces 2024 logo design winner

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Pitt County Arboretum has picked the winner of its logo contest.

Pitt County announced that Nivea Jones won the 2024 Arboretum logo design contest and will take home a cash prize of $500.00.

“We are pleased with the engagement generated by our logo design contest over the past month and thrilled with the result,” said Matt Stevens, the Pitt County NC Cooperative Extension Director. “Having a beautiful new logo designed by a Pitt County resident will help raise the profile of our Pitt County Arboretum.”

Pitt County says the contest got 31 original entries and Jones’ design was chosen to be one of the five finalists by Arboretum staff, volunteers, and attendees.

The Greenville woman became the official winner after a public vote was held online. The online vote received more than 1,800 votes by its deadline of May 31.

“I wanted to showcase the Arboretum’s beautiful trees and really give people an idea of what an arboretum is,” Jones said. “I wanted to give the old logo a new, polished look.”

Her design will be used in all signage and media, whether digital or print.
