Pitt Co. Social Services seeks ‘Holiday Cheer’ assistance

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Pitt County Department of Social Services is looking for volunteers to help bring “Holiday Cheer” to 225 foster children in custody of the agency.

Holiday Cheer is an annual holiday support program that relies solely on donations from citizens and community partners, according the county department. These items can include diapers, pull-ups, toys, games, hygiene items, clothes, etc.. These must be new and unwrapped.

“Vulnerable children experience Christmas and holidays differently. A seemingly small, insignificant thing can mean the world to them at Christmas or any special time of the year,” says Sharon Rochelle, Social Services Director.

Donations will be accepted either mailed to brought to the Pitt County Department of Social Services in Greenville. Mail should be marked to “Foster Care Special Needs & Holiday Fund”.
