Pender County to discuss approval of $2.5 million grant for new 911 center

PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – The Pender County Board of Commissioners is set to discuss accepting a $2,548,628 NC 911 grant award for the relocation of the Pender County 911 facility at a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

Per the meeting agenda, the 3,810 square foot call center will have space for seven workstations.

The grant will help pay for various aspects of the facility: about $200,000 for project management and technology consultant services, $2.1 million for construction, $188,556 for technology costs, and $60,000 for office chairs, a break room, filing cabinets and other office furniture.

The facility is part of a bigger project to build a new jail and law enforcement center in Pender County.
