SWANSBORO, N.C. (WITN) -A pedestrian was hit by an 18-wheeler in Swansboro Tuesday afternoon suffering life-threatening injuries, according to Swansboro Public Safety.
They say the 18-wheeler was traveling east on NC 24 near the intersection of West Corbett Avenue and Hammocks Beach Road when a man was hit.
That person was identified as 39-year-old Kenneth Hendricks of Swansboro. He was taken to Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital with serious injuries. His current condition is unknown.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, 35-year-old Brandon Poston of Lancaster, South Carolina, is charged with a red light violation.
The investigation is ongoing.
