Pedestrian dies, teen driver now facing more serious charges

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WITN) – More serious charges have been brought against a Goldsboro teenager after police say the man he hit last month has died.

The crash happened in the area of 1001 North Spence Avenue on May 27th. Christopher Hare was critically injured after being hit by the car.

Police say those in the car all ran, but officers were able to quickly find them.

The 58-year-old Hare died at ECU Health Medical Center on Monday. Police have now charged the 16-year-old driver with hit and run, driver’s failure to stop or remain at the scene with vehicle when personal Injury or death occurs.

The boy was given no bond and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center in Greenville.
