“Paydert” films final scene at ECU

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Part of one college campus transformed into a movie set Monday as Bearhug Productions, Equity Films called for extras to be part of an upcoming film.

ECU’s campus became a part-time movie set as the crew for “Paydert” filmed the movie’s finale. The film falls under multiple genres – including historical, drama and mystery.

Director James Jones shared some details about the film. “A family that moves from Atlanta, Georgia to North Carolina. The husband is a publisher, and he comes here to basically be closer to his job and then sees this dream home that he feels he can be able to fix up. Inside of this home there is a little unearthly things that begin to happen,” says Jones.

Jones says he is excited to use the film to share true history. Actor Manica Walker said she was thrilled ECU gave the crew the chance to film the final scene on campus.

“I believe this is the first time ECU has came in and said hey let’s bring in some local film directors in and hopefully we will be starting a movement. Hopefully, other directors can come in and take a shot at bringing some light into the movie scene and using some of ECU’s campus to do it,” says Walker.

While other spots in North Carolina have been popular for television and film productions – Greenville is often left out.

Jones hopes people will see the talent you can find throughout Eastern Carolina.

“We are letting people know that we got talent right here and Hollywood we coming for them,” says Jones.

Filming for “Paydert” started last May and is expected to wrap this summer.
