HUGO, N.C. (WITN) – An overturned tractor trailer has closed a major highway in the East early Tuesday morning.

The Hugo Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department shared on their Facebook page that a tractor-trailer overturned on Highway 11 Southbound between Sharon Church Road and Ferrell Road.

The fire department says that section of the highway is closed as they deal with the accident.

Officials ask that people avoid the area and say the road will be closed for an extended period of time.
