As we have been forecasting since the start of Debby and as it was starting to get closer to our area, the storm carried the risk of flash flooding, gusty winds, and tornadoes, which were more prevalent this time. The National Weather Service office in Eastern North Carolina issued 38 Tornado Warnings within a 12 hour period from Tropical Storm Debby Thursday. Most of the same areas were issued in Greene, Lenoir, and Pitt counties.
As we go out in the afternoon and evening hours, a Tornado Watch remains in place until 8:00 PM for all of ENC. Be sure to have a way of getting alerts, if a Tornado Warning is issued. Be sure to have your alerts turned on and be prepared to take shelter if your county or city is under a warning.
