Onslow County woman accused of killing roommate due in court this morning

ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A woman charged with killing her roommate more than two years ago will be in court this morning.

Onslow County District Attorney Ernie Lee says Melissa Tobarsalas will appear before a Superior Court judge at 11 a.m.

Onslow County deputies arrested the then 44-year-old woman after they were called to a home in Midway Park on October 3, 2021, and found 68-year-old James Nuell dead.

An investigation found that Tobarsalas and Nuell got into a fight. Deputies say the two lived at the same home but were not in a relationship.
