Onslow County man accused of sexually abusing two children

ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina man is accused of sexually abusing two children, one that happened 28 years ago.

Onslow County deputies charged John Rouse with two counts of indecent liberties with a child on Thursday.

Deputies say last summer, Jacksonville police originally received a report that Rouse had sexually abused a child. The case was transferred to the sheriff’s office as the crime reportedly happened out in the county.

Deputies learned that Rouse had also been accused of sexually abusing another child in 1996. After meeting with the District Attorney’s Office, two indecent liberties warrant were obtained.

Rouse was found in Carteret County and taken into custody by the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office.

The 68-year-old Hubert man was given a $40,000 secured bond and had his first court appearance this morning.

Deputies say the Florida Child Advocacy Center also assisted them in this case.
