Onslow County man accused of setting fire to home with three people inside

ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A man has been charged with three counts of attempted murder after deputies say he set fire to a home this morning.

The fire happened around 4:00 a.m. on Chadwick Shores Drive outside of Sneads Ferry.

Onslow County deputies say they found three residents at a neighbor’s home, all having escaped the burning home.

One victim was airlifted to the Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill, while two others were sent to Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune.

Deputies learned that Duane Brower intentionally set the fire. He was arrested after a traffic stop by Holly Ridge police.

Brower, who also lived at the home, is charged with three counts of attempted first degree murder, first degree arson, and felony malicious use of explosive/incendiary device.

The man is in jail without bond. Authorities have not released any information about how Brower and the victims are connected.
