One arrested, one on the run after chase in stolen car

EDGECOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – One person was arrested and another one is on the run after deputies say they led them on a chase in a stolen vehicle.

According to deputies with the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office, they received a call about a car being stolen from Midway Grocery near Southwest Edgecombe High School Sunday night.

Deputies say they were told that a car dropped off two people who then jumped into a car that was at the gas pumps and drove away.

According to deputies, they saw both of the cars going towards Rocky Mount on NC 43, and when they tried to stop the cars both of the drivers fled.

Deputies say that after a short chase the car that was stolen from Midway Grocery wrecked at the intersection of NC 43 and Fairview Road in Rocky Mount, and that both of the people in the car ran away on foot.

Deputies say that found and captured one of them, a teen, after searching using both K9s and a drone.

According to deputies, two guns were found, including one that had been reported stolen to the Wilson County Sheriff’s office.

The teen was taken to Pitt County Juvenile Center in Greenville. Deputies are still looking for the other person.
