One arrested in Halifax County drug bust

HALIFX COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A Raleigh man is behind bars after deputies in Halifax County say that he hid drugs in a secret compartment in his car.

According to Halifax County deputies, the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force stopped 30-year-old Luis Flores of Raleigh around 3:15 p.m. on Monday as he drove in the Scotland Neck area.

Deputies say that when they stopped Flores, a K9 alerted on his car indicating that there were drugs hidden inside. Deputies say that they searched the car and found a hidden compartment that had cocaine inside of it.

Deputies arrested Flores and charged him with trafficking in cocaine by possession, trafficking in cocaine by transportation, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, felony maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance.

Flores was taken to the Halifax County Jail where is being held with no bond.
