OFFICIALS: Deputy involved shooting in Nash County with armed person

NASH COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A sheriff’s office in the east says a deputy was involved in a shooting Thursday morning.

The Nash County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was part of a shooting with an armed individual.

NBC affiliate WRAL says the Spring Hope Police Department has confirmed a Nash County deputy shot an armed person before 8 a.m. along Big Woods Road.

The news outlet says the deputy was not injured in the shooting, and the person shot is expected to recover.

The sheriff’s office is asking people to avoid the Highway 64 alternate and Big Woods Road at this time.

Little details are known, however, NCSO says more information will be released at a later time.

Officials say the State Bureau of Investigation has been contacted and will be investigating.
