CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Authorities say a plane crashed at Michael J. Smith Airport in Carteret County on Saturday.

According to Carteret County Public Information Officer Nick Wilson, shortly after 7:00 pm, the single-engine fixed-wing aircraft crashed into a fence and ended up in a ditch near Hwy 70.

Authorities say there were no reported injuries.

The Carteret Co. Emergency Services, Sheriff’s Office, Beaufort Fire and EMS and Beaufort Police Department all responded to the scene.
