No injuries reported after massive structure fire in Maury

Firefighters say it was heavily engulfed in flames upon their arrival.

MAURY, N.C. (WITN) – Firefighters say no one was hurt in a structure fire in Greene County on Saturday.

According to Maury Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association, they responded at 3:53 pm to the unoccupied single story wood frame house at 300 Half Moon Road.

They say it was heavily engulfed in flames upon their arrival.

Authorities say a tanker shuttle water supply was established and the fire was brought under control in approximately 2 hours.

One firefighter was transported to ECU health for heat exhaustion but was later treated and released.

Greene County Emergency Services and the Greene County Sheriff’s department are assisting in the investigation.
