New state record for White Perch set in Kitty Hawk

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WITN) – A catch at Kitty Hawk has set a new state record for White Perch.

The North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries recently certified the 2-pound, 0.8-ounce fish caught by Donald White in Kitty Hawk Bay on January 7th.

White said he was fishing with a Kunnan K15706 rod, paired with a Shimano Nasci 1000 reel using a custom jig.

The new record catch fish measured 13.5 inches fork length (from the tip of the nose to the fork in the tail) and had an 11-inch girth. The fish was weighed in at TW’s in Kitty Hawk.

The previous state record was held by John Stallings for a 1-pound, 13-ounce fish that he caught in 1986.
