NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – A man was taken to the hospital after being shot in New Bern this morning.

New Bern police said that it happened in the 2100 block of Woodland Ave. around 4:46 a.m.

The man was taken to ECU Health Medical Center. Their condition is unknown.

Police said based on the proximity of the shooting to Grover C. Fields Middle School, Craven County Sheriff’s Office SROs assisted with security during morning activities at the campus.
