New Bern man charged with trafficking fentanyl in Lenoir County

LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A traffic stop in Lenoir County has led to the arrest of a New Bern man on drug charges.

Lenoir County deputies say their Street Crimes and Rapid Response unit made the traffic stop yesterday and arrested Kareem Stewart.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. near the Waffle House on U.S. 70 in Kinston.

After getting probable cause, deputies searched the vehicle and found what turned out to be fentanyl.

The 28-year-old Stewart was charged with trafficking Schedule I controlled substance and possession with intent to sell and/or deliver MDMA.

Stewart remains in the Lenoir County jail.
