ENFIELD, N.C. (WITN) – A Nash County man was arrested Friday afternoon in connection to an armed robbery at a Family Dollar store.

Deputies with the Nash County Sheriff’s Department say that they went to a Family Dollar in Whitakers around 10 am this morning after being told about an armed robbery there.

When deputies arrived they were told that the person who robbed the store was 23-year-old Curtis Pitts, who they say lived in the Halifax County part of Enfield.

Deputies from both Nash and Halifax Counties say that they found Pitts at a trailer Friday and a three-hour standoff began during which deputies say they tried several times to get Pitts to come out.

Deputies say they eventually used an armored vehicle to get into the trailer and get him to surrender.

Pitts was taken to the Nash County Jail where deputies say he is being held on charges of armed robbery.
