Mother & son insurance agents charged with insurance fraud

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – Two Eastern Carolina insurance agents, who are mother and son, have been charged in an insurance fraud scheme.

State Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey says Amberly Bell, 46, and Brady Daniels, 22, were arrested Wednesday.

The two live on Robersonville Road, northwest of Washington. Bell was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretenses. Daniels faces two counts of insurance fraud and two counts of attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

Agents say Daniels filed a fraudulent $725 tow bill with Discovery Insurance, with Bell supporting his claim. The state says after Discovery denied the claim, Daniels filed another claim with Progressive Insurance.

The fraud happened on March 11th, according to a news release.
