RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – Deputies in Duplin County say they have charged the mother of an 8-year-old girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert Wednesday morning.
The Amber Alert went out just before 4:30 a.m. after deputies said that 8-year-old Callie Holloman was taken by her mother Rhonda Holloman, 38, after her father Charlie Holloman was given temporary legal and physical custody of Callie.
Deputies say Rhonda showed up at Charlie’s home with her boyfriend Michael Holmes and took Callie.
According to Duplin County Sheriff’s Office Captain Scott Kennedy, Callie was found safe when deputies stopped the car Holloman was driving on Bowdens Road a short time later. Kennedy said they had been in contact with the mother before she was stopped. The Amber Alert was canceled just before 9:15 a.m.
Hollman was charged with felonious restraint and released on an unsecured bond.
