Mega Millions jackpot nearly reaches $1 billion, Powerball now $750 million

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – Two lottery jackpots are continuing to soar as they nearly reach $1 billion.

Tonight’s Mega Millions drawing will have a $977 million jackpot available. The winner will have a choice of that jackpot as an annuity or $461 million in cash. Saturday’s Powerball jackpot will have a $750 million prize as an annuity or $357.3 million in cash.

If the Mega Millions jackpot is won, it will be the sixth-largest jackpot in the game’s history.

“With one jackpot almost at $1 billion and another not too far behind, this weekend could be life-changing for some lucky North Carolinian,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “Make sure to check your tickets carefully after each drawing. Good luck.”
