Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots totals surpass $1.5 billion

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – The North Carolina Education Lottery announced that tonight and tomorrow night’s jackpots are continuing to grow after weeks of no winner.

Tonight’s Powerball drawing will have a $645 million jackpot available. The winner will have a choice of that jackpot as an annuity or $307.3 million in cash. Tomorrow’s Mega Millions jackpot will have a $865 million prize as an annuity or $413.5 million in cash.

If the Mega Millions jackpot is won, it will represent the sixth largest jackpot in the game’s history and tenth largest in U.S. history.

“With two huge jackpots up for grabs, this will be a very exciting week for Powerball and Mega Millions players in North Carolina,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “Have fun going for the jackpots and good luck.”

The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302 million. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
