Marsh Boardwalk renovation complete at Pine Knoll Shores aquarium

PINE KNOLL SHORES, N.C. (WITN) -Visitors may stroll through nature again at the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

The Marsh Boardwalk that stretches behind the aquarium along the edge of Bogue Sound and through the maritime forest is once again open.

Originally built in 1994, the boardwalk was in need of repairs over the years.

The renovation started in January and was completed last Wednesday.

“We’re proud to be able to share the improved Marsh Boardwalk with our guests,” said Clint Taylor, aquarium director. “Renovating the walkway was a huge undertaking and the finished product will certainly be a highlight during a visit to the aquarium. The walkway is a favorite for many guests and the team involved did an outstanding job enhancing this unique experience.”

Admired Builders from Kinston replaced all the existing deck boards with a water-resistant walkway that will make them last longer, the aquarium said.

The builders also replaced the deck boards, ramps, and handrails which they completed ahead of schedule.
