Man who took off in middle of Beaufort County trial still on the run

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) – A man who authorities say took off in the middle of his trial in Beaufort County is still on the run.

Back on November 15th, Joshua Glaspie was found guilty of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.

But during his trial, authorities say Glaspie took off. The trial continued and the 21-year-old was convicted in absentia.

Deputies say the man should be considered armed and dangerous. They are asking for the public’s help in catching Glaspie. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office at (252) 946-0101 or Crime Stoppers at (252) 974-6400

The district attorney says Glaspie, who was 17 at the time, and a 14-year-old boy, tried to rob the victim. When the victim ran away, Glaspie fired four times, wounding the man. The gunfire also hit the victim’s home with his mother and young children inside.

The D.A. says Glaspie will be sentenced once he is caught and placed in jail.
